Before I start writing about Les Miserables I would like to tell you about my new friend Erika who I call my soul mate. I finally found a friend that is down to try new things and attend a variety of different activities. The more we spend time with each other the more we get to know each other the more we realize we have so much in common. Very happy to have met her.
This is something about me you might not know… I love musicals and I love the experience that comes with it. Musicals I’ve seen are: The Lion King, Mama Mia, Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, Westside Story and now Les Miserables.

| This is the dress I picked. I hope I nailed it. |
The Les Miserables experience starts with the dress. What should I wear? People like to dress up to these things so I guess that means I’ll need to get new dress. (if you’re a girl reading this, you know that we’ll find any excuse to shop) Believe it or not the dress is very important in these kinds of occasions. You have to have a dress that is both elegant and sexy.
I just want to say that the Ahmanson Theatre is beautiful from outside. It has a huge fountain that hopefully you can see in our pictures. It has an outside bar area where people sit and have their fancy drinks in their fancy clothes. There’s a fancy restaurant outside with fancy lights and fancy table cloths. If I would have known I would have arrived earlier to have a drink there.
This is us taking advantage of the scenery behind us.
And this is us right before we walk into the theater.
Sitting on our seats before the show starts. For those of you who might not know, musical are expensive. The good thing about most theaters is that no matter where you sit, you'll have a good view. We sat in the front of the top level.
Les Miserables the musical is based on a book from Victor Hugo. Very popular book that focuses on the struggles of ex-convict, Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption. Its about politics, religion, justice, family and love.
This musical unlike the others I've seen is simple. The voices were amazing and at times kind of unbelievable. The costumes and props were simple because they were inspired by the art of Victor Hugo. The story is very heartwarming and powerful. The lady sitting next to me cried the entire time and the man sitting next to Erika did the same. For those who have read the book and know the characters well... this is typical,
As for us... we enjoyed every minute of it. So much that we already bought tickets to MARY POPPINS.
